During the colder days of winter, avid anglers often look back on memorable fishing trips, whether it's the thrill of catching a 20-inch trout or the excitement of battling a hefty Chinook. These cherished memories linger, but the fishing season doesn't have to come to an end. NOPE Now there is Ice Fishing Instead!
If you're thinking about storing your fishing gear for next year, here are some key features to focus on:
Durability: Look for stainless steel shafts and brass lures that are robust and more environmentally friendly. Time and Time again I used to make that mistake. Opening up your tackle box to rusted lures or hooks. Use those sachets that come in retail boxes like with your shoes, to keep things dry in your tackle boxes.
Replace lead with brass or new none lead weights.
Choose lures designed for your specific fishing area and replace any worn-out or ineffective ones.
One standout option is the Fatal Attraction from MTB Lures, a versatile lure effective for various fish species due to its innovative design.
Color: Select lure colors that are suitable for different fishing conditions, considering the UV spectrum's impact. Darker colors like blue, red, green, and black can be more visible in deep waters, where these colors may appear white due to the light spectrum. While stocking the bright colors for bright days and clear water are absolutely essential.
Fishing line: When choosing between braid and mono lines, consider durability and visibility to fish. Ensure your line is in good condition and consider using a leader with braid lines to make them less visible. Replace the line now, as when its time to go next year, you don't want to be disappointed with rotten line
Reels: Take time to assess the condition of your spinning or fly reel, clean and lubricate its parts for optimal performance.
Rods: Inspect rod tips for damage and fraying, addressing any issues to avoid problems while fishing.
Knives: Remember to clean, sharpen, and store your knives properly to keep them in good condition for future use.
Preparing for a Successful Fishing Season
As winter approaches and the fishing season winds down, take this time to reflect on past experiences and prepare for future adventures.
It's time to haul out the ice fishing gear and go thru this all again.
