Making Krill corn and roe

Well the dark days are upon us.But the excitement of ice fishing is coming. Counting down the days. This year in Northern BC, we are experiencing above normal temperatures. Our lakes that we frequent are just starting to freeze.I am still fishing the local rivers for steelhead, cutthroat, dolly and bull trout. Catch and release only. But having time near water and solitude is the most exquisite memories to have. This is when I change out the old gas in the ice auger and make the bait.I also regrease and examine the eyes on my fishing rods

I have begun curing my own salmon roe and corn. Until the shrimp hatch this is a productive measure to catching lots of fish. They are still very active in the shallow water. You will find Kokanee in these areas of the lake too. Make these baits and portion them before freezing. Grab n go! Yes you can refreeze them when you get home. Use tuna oil mixed with the krill bait mix. It helps soak it up and goes into the meat of the corn and roe.I am also prototyping some new flasher jigs. Check it out on my Facebook page on the website link. Video'swill come soon.Have fun, be safe and happy fishing
